I'm in the range of the 20's S+ levels and I haven't used another weapon and my average score never goes down of 10-15 kills unless I have a really bad game. I consider rollers like that hero or class on a MMO that is considered to be the joke or underpowered class but you will always find people that outplay the carp out of it. If they don't want to buff kill time then they should at least decrease the ink consume because it's one of the things that feels the most limiting on Rollers, even with abilities centered around Ink recovery and save.Īs a Splat roller user since splatoon 1, I was someone that despised the dynamo roller in the first game and feels pitty for the current state of the dynamo on 2. Unfortunately the Rollers don't have immediate attacks and their turf covering skills are often surpassed by many other weapons.īalancing rollers is hard because every weapon with one-shot mechanics can become OP if not handled well but right now I'd say Rollers DO need something (especially the Dynamo, I've lost every single match where I've used it) because they are simply outclassed by other weapons.
Only if you're really going out of your way you will have a good number of kills but generally if the opponent has good awareness, scoring kills will be much harder than when using other weapons, especially if you miss your flick shot or if you don't one-shot the enemy because you were 2 centimeters too far.įor that reason, I've lately shifted my interest towards close range shooter weapons like the Sploosh-O-Matic (I used the N-Zap a lot before) and my performance both in Ranked and Turf War increased exponentially! Short range weapons need to have that element of surprise that if you pop up in the face of you're opponent you have a 90% chance to defeat them.
The rollers in general are too slow in a META of fast weapons. I like them specifically for the flick shot and the close range one-shot but aside from the classic Splat Roller I didn't use any other types of Roller in Ranked because they just don't perform well enough. I've only played Splatoon 2 but I've used the Rollers a lot since the first day.
